RR 2.2.07

This month is Black History Month, where school kids learn about how wonderful it is that Eli Whitney made slave cotton production more efficient, how great it is that MLK turned his cheek to the man whilst appealing to the same man's imaginary god for help, how cool it would be to assimilate like Booker T or Colin Powell, and "Malcolm who?"

But let's take this opportunity of the subject being brought up to learn from the real history, celebrate the real struggles, & who knows maybe even start some new struggles here & now.

This month's Revolution Radio is all hip-hop. This musical genre is a thing which was developed by Afro-Americans but has since inspired oppressed people all over the world, & the songs on this playlist reflect that.

Recommended reading: Fire on the Mountain by Terry Bisson. Story based on, what if before the Civil War there was a Black Revolution led by the likes of Nat Turner, Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, & co -- how would the world be different? Awesome shit. Go track it down at a used bookstore or library somewhere, it is a quick, fun, enlightening read!
